Port of Aalborg
Design and delivery of a hybrid system with 10 MWh of mobile battery capacity, three mobile OPS units and a central energy management system.
Port of Aalborg has selected Leap Solutions as supplier of a new hybrid shore power and battery storage system for the East Harbour. The solution will allow vessels to draw power from shore while berthed in the port, and at the same time support the ongoing electrification of the port's own equipment.
The delivery comprises two mobile battery units with a combined capacity of 10 MWh, three mobile shore power units supplying vessels in the 400–690 V range, along with a central 10 kV switchgear installation and an energy management system that coordinates all units. Because the battery capacity is mobile, it can supply vessels, electric hybrid cranes and future electrified port equipment alike, without permanent infrastructure at every berth.
Leap Solutions is responsible for design, delivery and commissioning. The project is co-financed by the EU through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF AFIF), and the system is expected to enter operation before the end of 2027.
