Project Summary
A leading provider of lifting and transportation solutions for wind turbines faced increasing complexity in handling large and fragile turbine components—especially offshore blades. To improve planning, execution, and post-operation analysis, the company needed a reliable way to collect and analyze installation data. Leap developed a robust and flexible data acquisition system that can be mounted on various types of lifting equipment to log critical data during turbine installation work.
Solution
We designed a modular data acquisition box that integrates with the equipment’s existing sensors and control systems, capturing real-time data during installation operations. The system logs data locally, stores it on a USB drive, and offers remote download functionality via internet connection. Built on a Python-based platform, it’s designed for cross-compatibility and ease of deployment across different tools and setups. Additional sensor modules can be added as needed, making it a highly customizable solution. Tailored for offshore conditions, the system supports multiple power sources (230V AC, 80V DC, 24V DC) and includes a lead-acid UPS for power stability in remote or harsh environments.
Outcome
The solution has enhanced the client’s ability to monitor, evaluate, and refine their blade installation procedures. It reduced setup time, enabled more informed decision-making based on real-time and logged data, and laid the groundwork for future applications in wind turbine maintenance and operations planning.
