Desktop application for managing a component library

Liftra is a global market leader in lifting and transport solutions for the wind turbine industry. With more than 200 development engineers spread across different locations and projects, the company needed a more efficient way to manage its large library of components and assemblies.

To support Liftra’s work processes and make sure employees always had access to the latest files and revisions, we worked closely with Liftra to build a custom desktop solution: Component Manager. The aim was to simplify and optimise a central part of the engineers’ daily workflow.

Solution
We built Component Manager, a dedicated desktop application that makes it easy for Liftra’s engineers to categorise, search and manage components, CAD files, datasheets, revisions and other technical documentation.
We developed the solution in close collaboration with its users, with feedback along the way, so it would fit Liftra’s existing workflows and technical requirements as closely as possible. The intuitive interface makes the application easy to use, and advanced structuring and search features give faster access to critical CAD components and assemblies.

SolidWorks is a central tool in Liftra’s design and engineering processes, so we built Component Manager to integrate seamlessly with it. The system supports the engineers’ work from 3D CAD models to finished 2D production drawings and contributes to a more efficient design flow.

Result
Component Manager has strengthened Liftra’s ability to manage and make use of its large CAD library. Engineers now spend less time searching for and organising files and can focus on design, development and project delivery.

The solution has improved efficiency across several departments. It also supports Liftra’s long-term ambition to strengthen and further develop its digital tools and work processes.
