Refurbishment of an existing hydrogen plant

Eurowind Energy is preparing an existing hydrogen plant for a Power-to-X upgrade, and Leap Solutions was chosen to lead the controlled refurbishment of the plant’s PEM electrolysis systems. The plant had been in operation since 2018. Removing the existing equipment called for precise planning and execution, to keep the plant safe without affecting ongoing operations.

Leap Solutions carried out a complete technical mapping of the plant’s PLC and automation architecture. We identified and removed every signal, function and component related to the electrolysis plant across the PLC and SCADA systems, including alarms, safety shutdowns, interlocks and control logic.

This kept the plant running stably after the electrolysis plant was refurbished, and it prepared the automation platform for installing a new, upgraded unit in the next phase.
